Their Stories Matter: Women Leading in their Communities – She.Is.Beautiful & Heart Ping Life

Have you every had the experience of an amazing doctor, nurse, or health care representative that made your day (or life) with their care? We have so much love and appreciation to the men and women who dedicate their lives to helping others. Dignity Health Dominican Hospital has been a presenting partner of She.is.beautiful for the last 3 years. Their hospital is full of women leading in both the workplace and in their homes. We thought we’d take a peek in to some of their stories.

Meet Hari Bartlett, RN, Surgery Services

Tell us a little about yourself.

I am married and  have two girls who are 13 and 16 years old–I’m involved in all their school functions.  I have worked at Dominican Hospital for 30 years in various departments. I am constantly volunteering, from helping in various community needs as well as my kid’s  school functions. Recently, I volunteered at the big Dominican Hospital Foundation Gala, which raised money for critical hospital services like cardiovascular surgery. I also really enjoy working at the community health fairs that Dominican puts on throughout the year.

What does the first hour of your day look like?

My first hour of the day is getting ready for work and making sure the kids are ready for school. I bike to work a majority of the time and, if I get to work early, I work out at the Dominican Hospital Employee Wellness Gym.

What was your biggest challenge in the past few years?

My biggest challenge in the past few years is realizing that no matter what others do, I have to focus on why I do what I do and continue to be the person that I need to be. That just because I hold myself to high standards, doesn’t mean that others will hold themselves to that same level of standards. All I can do is continue to do what I do and try to help elevate others to that standard.

How has working for Dignity elevated you as a person?

Working for Dignity Health has elevated me as a person in many ways. I feel so much respect from floor nurses and other department managers and administration, and I know they feel the same for me.

What lesson have you learned from exercise?

The lessons that I have learned from exercise are that it makes me feel great. To have even just a little time for myself helps me get through the day with energy. I am able to take care of others, especially if I have taken care of myself through exercising. I make sure to do the things that I love when exercising. I make it fun for myself and challenging, which makes me want to be committed to do follow through.

What is a #BigScaryGoal you are aiming for?

The big scary goal that I am aiming for is something that I really haven’t thought about.  I’m sure when it’s time to face the big scary goal, I’ll be more than ready!

Thanks for sharing Hari!
